Balaena Tyne is home to one of the largest commercial dry docks on the East Coast of England and a major hub for advanced ship repair, complex conversion, and heavy fabrication.
Equipped with deep-water berths, extensive laydown areas and a modern fabrication complex, including panel lines, rolling equipment, and CNC plasma/gas cutting, Balaena Tyne delivers fast, high-quality engineering solutions across the marine, energy and defence sectors.
Positioned as a centre of excellence for ferries, offshore vessels, cruise ships, tankers and cable-laying fleets, Balaena Tyne supports key operators throughout the North Sea and North Atlantic region.
Our facility also plays a critical role in Balaena’s Defence programme, with a proven pedigree in modular construction, precision fabrication and large-scale assembly for naval and research vessel platforms.

Why Balaena Tyne?
Balaena Tyne is a centre of excellence for ferries, cruise ships, offshore support vessels and tankers with clients including P&O, Stena Line and Prysmian Group.
The facility is also a major centre for defence sector expertise and has delivered a range of high profile fabrication projects including blocks for the new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier, Royal Navy’s 26 Frigates and major defence platforms, as well as for the new RRS Sir David Attenborough polar research vessel.
